Um…

October 6th, 2005

So I was trying to open an account with HSBC because they have a better rate and are offering $35 to open an account. I do this online and punch in all my information, including the address that I have been at these past almost 19 years. I had thought about putting my new address in, but I figured it should be easier to prove I live at this address like I have for over a decade than to prove I live at this place I’ve had for less a month. I say all this because one of the questions was have I lived at this address for more than 2 years, so of course I have… Thought it would be simple to verify that especially every single credit reported item I have comes to this address, nothing has been changed to my new address. I mean I bought the home owner’s insurance at the new address, but absolute zero changes to current existing accounts of all sorts.

To my surprise, they say they can’t verify me living at this address. I figure alright, maybe it’s because I only have a few things and they haven’t all been reported into the bureaus or maybe they are using a slightly older database or something like that. Now, here is where it gets funny. They decide to ask me some questions as verification that I am me. Here they are, word for word… So called “personalized” just for me…

1. Your credit file indicates you may have a mortgage loan, opened in or around September 1999. Who is the credit provider for this account?

2. What is the total scheduled monthly payment for the above-referenced mortgage?

3. Your credit file indicates you may have an auto loan/lease opened in or around August 2003. Who is the credit provider for this account?

4. What are the terms for the above-referenced account?

5. Your credit file indicates you may have an installment account (personal loans, electronic/appliance accounts, jeweler accounts, auto loans, etc.), opened in or around August 2003. Who is the credit provider for this account?

6. What is the total monthly payment for the above-referenced account?

So many things wrong that I hardly even know where I should start. First of all in 1999, I would have only been 12 or 13. I don’t know how the fuck I would be buying a house then and if I were getting one in my name at 12 or 13, I better have the cash up front. I don’t even have a mortgage on my current house so I have no idea where the mortgage claim even came from. The auto loan or lease thing doesn’t seem so far off except for my car was bought cash and isn’t even in my name! I didn’t get my car until 2004 anyhow. Then wtf is an installment account? They are all for things I couldn’t imagine buying on credit. Well I suppose personal loan is possible, but the rest of it is ridiculous.

From those questions, I’m somewhat concerned though, could someone have stolen my identity and bought a house along with 2 cars? I only have one house and one car! I got my credit report from experian not to long ago and it looked fairly clean. Just the normal hits from places doing checks on my credit worthiness like when I applied for a credit card.

Tomorrow is my C++ exam, I kind of know it, but I kind of don’t. I need to know how to convert hex to binary to ascii? Something like that and I’m confused!! The recursion stuff is pretty interesting, but I kind of have this hard time grasping it and making it into my own code. Since anything done with recursion can be done another way, I tend to do it in that other way with messy code that results in points lost.

I actually managed to pass my stats test even though I only started studying right before the exam and didn’t even really understand it all. Leads me to ask why I completely failed my BIO exam, not just any BIO exam, but the first one in a level 100 class! Even with her putting a 3 point curve, I did much below average. I just don’t know what happened.

I think I have about 36 boxes of Hot Pockets in my parent’s freezer, I took some of them out of the boxes to save space, but it’s still a lot of Hot Pockets. I’ve also got some crazy number boxes of fruit roll ups and chex mixes. So much junk food! At least in contrast to the one bundle thing of broccoli I have… I just may get moved in this month! I don’t know really, but I should be going to buy stuff this month, like a freezer, a fridge, tv, bed, furniture, and all that. I’ll be so poor.

Time for class….
